Glowy Sunrise Bridal Portraits at Tunnel Springs Park in Salt Lake City, Utah - Poise and Ivy Imagery
Every Photographer in Utah knows about Tunnel Springs Park in North Salt Lake.
With its incredible view of the city facing west, which is perfect for sunset views, the soft meadowy landscape, or the rolling hills you can escape into just a short walk to the east, it really offers something for everyone. Sunset is often crowded at Tunnel Springs Park in the mid - springtime months as photographers, engaged couples, high school seniors, college graduates, and families all hope to secure their spot in the park during the beautiful vibrant sunsets shining on the field.
But sunrise is quite less crowded, and offers a little bit of a different perspective on the well - loved location.
Bringing Kenna and Nate out for their formal wedding portraits (often just referred to as “bridals”) early in the morning rather than in the evening offered us something quite stunning that I’m so excited to share with you!

But first, let me introduce myself.

I’m highly empathic and emotional and if you’re in love, you bet your buttons I can feel it. I’ve practiced seeing and feeling the emotion in those around me, and putting that to work in my camera to get you the most incredible images you could dream of for your wedding.

If you want photos that truly have SUBSTANCE and make you FEEL something, you need a photographer who can work with simplicity to bring out your personality and tell the story you want told.
Wedding photography isn’t just about smiling at the camera and posing for hours with your fiancee or new spouse. It’s about honoring the moment and the love that you feel toward one another and coming together with an artist such as myself to tell your love story in a way that will be felt for years and years to come.

Ok guys back to it.
I love Tunnel Springs Park for its simplicity and grace as a location; it’s a great backdrop to help tell all kinds of stories, but the sunrise is often overlooked. The rolling hills to the east tend to hide the sunrise until the sun is too high, so although the light is even and soft, many prefer to visit Tunnel Springs Park in the evening.
For this photoshoot, we actually ended up starting around 9:30 in the morning, even though sunrise itself was about 6am. This gave us the opportunity to capture that beautiful light leak that makes the scene glowy and so dreamy!
This incredible bouquet from Windy Weather Florals really delivers the soft morning wildflower kind of feel that all romantic brides are searching for! I love the soft pastel color palette paired with the stunning detail of the Amaranthus; there was so much movement in it!
We spent most of our photoshoot just on this hill here, and it’s where I got all of my favorite photos! The sun was so glowy and not only that, there’s this lovely wooden fence at the edge of the hill that we were able to use as well.
Kenna’s dress is such a beautiful classic silhouette, featuring a long train from a full A-Line skirt. The neck scarf adds such a modern elegant element that I loved as it trailed behind her!
One of the biggest challenges of this location is that there aren’t many variating spots or angles you can walk to in order to get a diverse gallery, so knowing how to pose couples to tell their story is really the skill that comes into play the most for me at Tunnel Springs Park. I love to try to get my couple interacting naturally as much as possible, and then focus on angles and framing that really focus on various aspects of a moment.
A kiss and a laugh - what could make a better photo for such a happy sunrise photoshoot?
